Excellent craftwork. The Kurume cloth is excellent. The saffron is very slightly softer to the hand as compared to the Japan blue. The cut and stitching are very precise. The seams are finished and not flat felled. Traditional, lightweight Samue. Highly recommended.

I've waited ( 2 years) to write this review until I could be fully confident in the quality of this Samue. It's fantastic quality. It's very comfortable and mine still looks almost new after 2 years of heavy wear and hundreds of washes.
During class we sit in the seiza position. Sitting directly on the floor was bruising the tops of my feet. My new Zabuton Cushion protects my feet and makes Seiza much more comfortable. Also, it is very beautiful!
Use the Samue for gardening work and it is super comfortable while looking really good at the same time.

They are a lovely pattern and excellent quality towels; however the dye does not match. The one is pink and you can clearly see the flowers, front and back: the other is a peach and you can very faintly see the flowers on one side and not at all on the other.
I wanted something more formal to wear as a lay Zen practitioner who regularly sits with a sangha. I bought a large though I usually wear medium-sized clothes, and it fit a touch big, so I tumble dried the samue on low and it slightly, usefully shrank. I might shrink the pants more and appreciate the option to help perfect the fit. But I love the quality of the samue and enjoy wearing it.
This is beautifully made and comfortable to wear. I have worn it several times but now the weather is getting warmer so it will be there for next winter. It is so warm and looks great.
This Jinbei’s weave is particularly soft, and also beautiful. It is truly top notch. The grey color is lovely, especially because of the weave. Size is perfect as well. I am 5’10”, 32-33 waist depending on pants, and the Large size fits me well. If you are debating whether to get this, you will not regret it.
